A few of my friends are muslim so before you say I’m trying to show a ‘false islam’ or something ridiculous, I’m not. I’m just trying to explain the way i see it.

I live in a town with many muslims. The majority of them wear makeup, they wear black, sometimes bright blue, or pink head scarfs, or even ones with patterns on them. If they wear the head scarf to stop men looking at them then it makes no sense to put on makeup. Within Islam a woman is not allowed to attempt to look beautiful or draw attention in public.

Which one catches the eye more a head scarf that ‘looks pretty’ or just your hair? The head scarf frames the face, making it more likely that people will look at you. Even if it’s boring black material it’s still framing the face.

Hair is just hair, styled or not i still notice the women with a head scarf more. Even though I’m used to seeing it everyday.

I also think there’s nothing wrong with men finding a woman attractive anyway. A civilized man is hardly going to pester or make them feel awkward. Muslim women are supposed to dress modest to avoid being molested (by men who are capable of it) to feel less objectified, to have privacy and avoid un wanted attention. Surely by dressing that way it’s saying to men ‘you can’t be trusted not to view me as sexual and if you found me attractive you wouldn’t be able to control yourself’. It implies that women who dress any other way are below them or don’t respect their bodies. When i go food shopping I’m usually one of the very few white people there. A large majority of the men look at me like I’m walking around naked.

A body is a shell nothing more and every person should have the freedom to feel as though they can show arms or legs if they choose to, without feeling bad or feeling the need to have privacy from stares. If everyone in the world never showed arms or legs etc then men would go gaga if they saw them. Restricted for life, nobody could wear a tshirt or shorts, and simple body parts that shouldn’t be viewed as sexual would become more sexual than ever. It makes the body a sex object, a hidden sex object. For example western people see breasts and private parts as private and sexual, muslims see everything as private and sexual.

“It is simply not true that Islam fails to treat women as sex objects. In fact, women are so sexualized within Islamic society that it is assumed that any private encounter between a woman and a man will be sexual.” Note it says private. A married women isn’t allowed to be alone with another man.

“Women are assumed to have two functions, and these are sex and child-bearing… Muslim women are wrong if they think that the headscarf prevents them from being treated as sex objects. In fact it confirms their social status as sex objects.” According to Islamic tradition, a woman’s primary role is to act as a wife and mother.

What is your opinion? Don’t bother calling me racist, I’m not talking about race.

I hate my mom what should i do?

Guys i have a really bad/wierd mom. to start out she favors my sister ALOT and by alot i mean extreme. For example, my mom makes me and my brother clean the house and wash dishes and everything. Where as my sister doesnt do anything and my mom buys and gives her alot of money each time. If i say ” how come my sister doesnt have to help” she will get really mad and yell at me and even ban me from the computer or kick me out of the house. There were even times where she would try to hit me but luckily enough i am old enough to dodge defend now but when i was little i use to take it. When i get a bad grade i am honest and i tell my mom i did. But my sister hides all her bad grades and will get away with it. and when i tell my mom she dropped 4 classes, she doesnt care, but if i drop 1 class i get a 3-4 hour lecture and a ban from the computer. My sister is favored by my mom so much. Here is my moms reasoning, When you are turning 18 im kicking you out. i tell her so why dont you kick my sister out? she is 21? and her response is she is 21 i cant do anything she is an adult? WTF kind of logic is that? Also my sister NEVER gets yelled at, when my mom is on pms she will go to my room and yell at me for the slighest things, its so bad, my sister was a mistake in this family, it drove it insane.
